Wrapped Nativity Goose Egg of Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus. Woven wired eggs are handcrafted with pride by Creative Skilled Slovakian Artisans in the Northern part of Slovakia. Wrapping eggs in wire is
known as Tinkers Trade and is one of the oldest crafts in folk tradition. The
beginning of tinker's trade in Slovakia
(part of former Czechoslovakia)
dates back to the 18th century. This tradition disappeared decades ago, but has
been rejuvenated a few years ago by artisans who decided to study the
technique and start a comeback.
