USA, Arizona

This is a painting by my husband's friend, Whitney Grey. He was a member of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. Samuel had several of Whitney's paintings. Whitney was actually very famous in Turkey of all places. He was a prolific artist. Whitney often came to Samuel's office selling his paintings, and one day, Samuel asked him if he would paint a Nativity for me. These are what he painted. Whitney was such a character, so very interesting. He was a member of the church but didn't feel worthy to say he was. We really enjoyed him and hoped to encourage him in his art work and relationship with Heavenly Father. Whitney has passed away, and we know that he was well loved. At his funeral, attendees painted on his coffin, and as he was lowered, people took off pieces of their own clothes and threw them in with him so that he would have clothes for the other side. There was a lot of love there.
